AUTHORS' COMMENTS:
[Nunzio] I think we were pretty heavily influenced by Buffy when we developed Luna. And that influence shows in Volume 1. I'm still very proud of that volume, but I think the series really came into its own with Volume 2. This was the one where we really took some of the central Luna concept for a spin. Family week, the grandparents, the romantic tension between Control and Dr. Andy... these were all new and fun ways to expand our concept. It really gave us a sense that we could do anything with this premise. Plus, I love the extras in this volume. The family album is priceless! (and a great way to show the fans all the extra work Shiei does on the side both in designs and just for fun)
[Christina] It's funny because normally I'm all about the romance. After we came up with the central concept for Luna my first concern was "and who's the hunky romantic interest going to be?" And so whenever we work on Luna, I'm pondering the Jonah scenes. But I'm really quite proud of Volume 2 and everything we did with the family concept. I think one of my favorite scenes to date in this series is Luna bowling with her "Grandfather." And I love exploring how Luna relates to Dr. Andy and especially Control. Control is the last person you look at and think "mother." And yet, she has so much potential as the mother figure in Luna's life. Add in to that the opportunity to see Control in the role as daughter and well... let the hijinx ensue.
